Triston Hooks

Dr. Triston Hooks graduated with a Ph.D. in Plant and Environmental Sciences from New Mexico State University in 2020, where he researched rangeland ecology, plant physiology, and plant salinity tolerance. Dr. Hooks completed his post-doc at Texas A&M AgriLife Research Center in Dallas, where his research focused on Urban Agriculture and Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) technology, including hydroponic systems and LED lighting.
Dr. Hooks now serves as an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Department of Biosystems Engineering at the University of Arizona where his research focuses on greenhouse hydroponic tomato production, hydroponic nutrient solutions, and integrated pest management for CEA. Dr. Hooks is passionate about teaching students and providing hands-on experiential learning at the Controlled Environment Agriculture Center (CEAC) where he devotes much of his time developing course and lab material for his classes including Introduction to Hydroponics, Advanced Hydroponic Crop Production, and IPM for CEA.
